As strictly returns to our television, and we dust off our dancing shoes and party dresses my thoughts wandered back to a few years ago when I was lucky enough to get tickets to sit in the audience for the Christmas Special. Wow! For anyone who does not know, or has not attempted to, the BBC have a ballot system to give away tickets for shows such as strictly and Jools Holland (I have not yet managed to get the latter!). The ballot is a simple application and you receive an e mail if you are drawn. There are a few more hoops to jump through as you then have to hang around the studio first thing in the morning, and unfortunately some people do then get turned away. Once you have visited first thing and made the list of successful entrants you have a fair few hours to kill whilst you wait to return to the studio in the afternoon. I travelled with my mum on this occasion, and we were lucky enough to have booked the Laura Ashley Hotel in Elstree, which was a short taxi ride away from the studios. This hotel DID NOT DISAPPOINT. The show was filmed in November and this particular hotel brims with Christmas. We waited patiently in the hotel whilst the show was due to start, sipping champagne in front of the log fire relaxing on the plush upholstery, whilst gazing out across the gorgeous grounds. It was just idyllic. Then at about 7pm our taxi picked us up and off we went a little bit tipsy teetering on our heels in our glamorous outfits to go. You have to follow a strict policy of handing in your phone, so the only pics I have are the hotel and what i wore….Obviously Roc and Doll here is the Empress Maxi Body Con Dress in all it’s glory!

I teamed this with a vintage 80s tartan jacket, which I have had so many comments about. I really need to buy some tartan and get stitching!
